IDENTIFY THEM

  • 20-40 centimeters in length, but there have been sightings and reports of rats the size of cats

BREEDING

Being social animals with an extended family structures, they live in communities that are in close proximity to areas where they feel safe and food sources are near. Baby rats are taught by their mother to navigate their environment to forage for food.


THREATS

Rats are known to be bite.

Rat bites can bring about the following within 2-10 days of exposure:

  • Abrupt fever
  • Myalgias (muscle pain)
  • Arthralgias (joint pain)
  • Vomiting
  • Headaches
  • Rash on the extremities

Rat bites has as case-fatality rate of 7-10% among untreated patients.
